Vo-tech receives grant for coronavirus needs

The state government has taken measures in an attempt to ensure that all students will have access to necessary materials during the COVID-19 pandemic and awarded the Butler County Area Vocational-Technical School close to $92,000.

It was announced Friday that the vo-tech will receive $91,853 from the Continuity of Education and Equity Grant for the 2020-21 school year.

Through the grant, the state government has awarded more than $5 million to local education agencies, according to the Pennsylvania government website's database.

The grant money is to be used to purchase computer equipment or instruction materials needed to accommodate for any changes to this academic year.

Schools with the highest percentage of students lacking access to resources were given priority.

“I am glad to see these funds are being made available to our schools, and I hope that they will help to provide a safe, healthy learning environment for our children during the coming school year,” state Rep. Aaron Bernstine, R-10th, said in a news release.
