Existing photos to be used on licenses
The state Department of Transportation announced that existing photos on file will be used for customers who renew their driver’s licenses and identification cards.
Those renewing their licenses or ID card online or through the mail will receive a new license or card with the most recent photo on file at PennDOT. No camera cards will be issued to those customers.
Non-commercial driver’s licenses and photo ID card holders may renew their cards online if there are not corrections or changes other than a change of address by visiting www.dmv.pa.gov.
Both non-commercial and commercial drivers may renew their licenses or ID cards through the mail as well.
Those who renewed their license or card on or before May 10 will receive a camera card in the mail and must visit a photo license center for an updated photo.
Non-U.S. Citizens must also visit a center in person to complete a transaction.
Licenses, learner’s permits and ID cards set to expire between March 16 and May 31 have been extended to June 30.
The issuance of REAL ID licenses is currently suspended to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has extended the REAL ID enforcement deadline to Oct. 1, 2021.
