New club plans volleyball event
SLIPPERY ROCK TWP — A newly formed club at Slippery Rock High School is planning a volleyball tournament and bake sale this month.
The school's Interact Club had its inaugural ceremony Jan. 13, inducting 29 new members.
The ceremony featured guest speakers from Slippery Rock and Portersville/Prospect Rotary clubs, and inducted members received a certificate and symbolic pins. The club received a banner to be hung at the school building.
Katie McClymonds, club president and founder, said the club will host a volleyball tournament Feb. 26 at Slippery Rock High School from 5 to 10 p.m. Proceeds from the event will go to food banks in the Slippery Rock area.
The event also will include a bake sale and a raffle basket that will contain more than $200 worth of prizes.
Interact Club is a branch of Rotary International and serves communities around the world by doing projects and student service opportunities.
