CLEARFIELD TWP — Two local businesses have partnered to hold the first Police Officer Raffle on Saturday afternoon.

Curtis Industries of Kittaning and Fenelton Firearms are holding a gun raffle this weekend to show their appreciation for officers.

“It’s a way to thank them for their service,” Brent McLafferty, manager at Fenelton Firearms said.

The raffle is only open to active duty police. Current law enforcement credentials must be presented to enter and later claim the prizes. Tickets are free and limited to one per individual.

“We’ve had people from Pittsburgh, Mercer and New Castle,” McLafferty said. “Anybody who can get here is able to apply.”

Winner for the 10 firearms — all donated by Curtis Industries and Fenelton Firearms — will be drawn by Sheriff Mike Slupe at Fenelton Firearms, 260 Steighner Road, on Saturday at 3 p.m. Winners need not be present.

To enter, individuals can visit Fenelton Firearms throughout this week. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday — but tickets must be entered before the drawing at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Sales tax and background checks are included.

McLafferty said he hopes this will become an annual event.
