Butler Police2:30 a.m. Thursday — Clyde E. Lohr, 55, was arrested after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, 47-year-old Ladonna Miller, of Portersville during a domestic dispute at his apartment in the 500 block of West Jefferson Street.Lohr is accused of grabbing Miller by the hair and punching her in the face. Police said the woman suffered a swollen lower lip in the altercation.Lohr was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.
Butler Twp. Police6:58 p.m. Wednesday — A suspected shoplifter turned violent at the Walmart at Butler Commons.Randy M. Weckerly, 19, of Parker is accused of stealing $229 in merchandise and knocking down two store employees in his getaway. Both employees hit their heads on the floor, police said, but apparently neither was injured.Police a short time later caught the teen coming out of the nearby Target store. Officers said they also found him with a pair of needle-nose pliers that they believe he used to remove store items from their packaging.Weckerly was arraigned on two counts of robbery, a felony, since he used force during the alleged shoplifting. He also is charged with two counts each of simple assault and harassment, possessing an instrument of crime and disorderly conduct. He is being held in the Butler County Prison on $35,000 bail.Tuesday — Police charged Bryan Lee Griffith, 33, of Butler with two shoplifting incidents in February and March at the Walmart at Butler Commons. Store surveillance video led to Griffith’s identification in both cases, according to a police report.The defendant is accused of taking $947 in merchandise on Feb. 6 and $275 in merchandise on March 3. Police noted the suspect was previously banned from the store in connection with a 2009 shoplifting incident.Griffith in the latest cases, according to police, is charged with two counts each of retail theft and trespass.
Grove City PoliceThursday — Police filed drug charges against Shaelynn Littleton, 23, of Grove City stemming from a traffic stop about 6 p.m. at Rebecca and Highland avenues. She is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and driving without working rear lights.Wednesday — Someone broke into a house on Gilmore Avenue and stole several DVDs valued at $60. The burglary happened between 1:40 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. Wednesday. Police are investigating. Anyone with information is to call 724-458-7925.
State Police, ButlerThursday — An unknown burglar made off with $272 in currency stolen from a cash register at the China Gourmet on Route 8 in Center Township. The suspect broke the rear glass door to get into the restaurant. The break-in happened between 9 p.m. Wednesday and 10:25 a.m. Thursday.Wednesday — Police charged James E. Shearer, 30, of Venango Township with unlawfully trying to buy a pistol at a Washington Township gun store last year.Shearer is accused of lying on his application Nov. 8 to buy the .380-caliber handgun at Logan’s Gun Gallery on North Washington Road. He is charged with unsworn falsification to authorities, a misdemeanor.Tuesday — A boat railing was stolen near a home on Redbud Road in Fairview Township. The theft happened between Jan. 13 and Tuesday. Police said they have no suspects.Sunday — Police filed misdemeanor drug charges against Ryan J. Carlino, 34, of Verona, Allegheny County, stemming from a 3:10 p.m. March 18 traffic stop on Interstate 79 at the weigh station in Cranberry Township. Carlino is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
State Police, Kittanning2:27 a.m. Thursday — Scott Reedy, 44, of East Brady was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after a one-vehicle crash on Seybertown Road in Bradys Bend Township.4:50 p.m. March 16 — Charles G. Vogel, 24, of Sarver was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 28 in O’Hara Township. Allegheny County. Police said Vogel also was found with three bags of suspected heroin.
