QUESTION: Why are you running for office?

ADAMETZ: I have been a resident of Seven Fields since 1992. It is a clean, friendly, and conveniently located place to live.

However, over the years, I’ve watched the size of our local government continue to grow even though the borough has been at full build-out for several years. I will put the breaks on what I see as frivolous and unnecessary spending of taxpayers’ dollars, burdensome taxes and heavy-handed ordinance enforcement policies.

SCALAMOGNA: I am frustrated when our local officials seem to be out of touch with their own neighbors. Residents should not be intimidated by locally elected officials or by their borough manager.

We pay their salaries to provide service to us and not to prosecute our neighbors for not shoveling their walks when the borough doesn’t clean their walks, or ticketing people when icy conditions prevent them from moving their cars.

SIKORA: I feel an obligation to be involved in a community I care about and appreciate living in.

QUESTION: What do you consider the pressing matters facing your municipality? How would you address them?

ADAMETZ: At only 30 years old, Seven Fields does not have the serious infrastructure problems that older municipalities have. I see a lot of minor problems throughout the borough that can be better addressed. For instance, I don’t think our borough manager should be driving around issuing tickets to residents without warning for not shoveling snow. With five full-time public works employees, our athletic fields should be in much better condition than they are.

I will work with other like-minded council members to review all ordinances and policies; repealing or replacing as necessary. I will also seek to conduct a thorough review of job descriptions and duties of all borough employees.

SCALAMOGNA: Our council’s priorities seem to be headed in the wrong direction. They appear to be more focused with spending tens of thousands of dollars on brick sidewalks than allowing residents to appeal their “administrative fees” imposed by the borough’s citations.

I would provide a more common-sense approach as to where the borough should focus its priorities. Mine would be a new face on the council. Too often I hear from council members that residents don’t attend meetings, yet we have elected officials citing scheduling conflicts.

SIKORA: We have a new police force that I was highly involved with in the organizing of the last 2½ years. I want to see it continue to grow and improve.
