Black, Shutt
Julia Black of Butler and Steven Shutt of Gettysburg were united in marriage Dec. 29 at the First United Methodist Church in Butler. The Rev. David Panther and the Rev. William McSwegin officiated. A reception followed at the Butler Vagabond Center.
The bride is the daughter of Richard and Susan Black of Butler. Parents of the bridegroom are Irene Shutt of Okemos, Mich., and the late Paul Shutt.
The matron of honor was Nicole Skarbek of Renfrew and the maid of honor was Lauren Johnson of Mays Landing, N.J. Bridesmaids included Kathleen Shutt of Oakmont, Emily Hagaman of Greensburg and Jessica Geibel of Boston. Flower girls were Alexia and Zoe Lopez of Gettysburg.
Performing the duties of best man was Justin Skarbek of Renfrew. Ushers included Keith Black of Millersville, Md., Robert McSwegin of Somerville, Mass., John Moritz of North Versailles and Scott Burkhardt of Madison, Wis. Ring bearers were Lucas and Levi Laughner of Butler.
The bride is a 1999 graduate of Butler High School and a 2003 graduate of Indiana (Pa.) University. She works for the Office of Personnel Management in Gettysburg.
The bridegroom graduated from Okemos High School in 1990 and from Allegheny College in Meadville in 1994. He is employed by Gettysburg College in Gettysburg.
Following a honeymoon trip to the Pocono Mountains, the couple is making their home in Gettysburg.
