Ex-SV student waives sex charges, has bond reduced

EVANS CITY — A former Seneca Valley Senior High School student had his charges waived to higher court Tuesday morning.

Joshua Speicher, 19, was arrested and charged last week after having an alleged sexual encounter in February with a girl under 13-years-old at the high school.

His charges, which include corruption of a minor and indecent assault, have been waived to Butler County Court, where he will be formally arraigned May 10.

Speicher also had his bond reduced from $20,000 to $5,000.

“He’s coming back with you,” said District Judge Wayne Seibel to Speicher’s parents, who attended the hearing. “I don’t care if he’s an adult or not, he’s under your roof.”

Assistant District Attorney Russ Karl argued that Speicher’s bond should be at least $10,000.

Speicher already faces charges of possession of child pornography. He will be arraigned for that case April 19 in county court.

“The other case was under investigation at the time this occurred,” Karl said. “He knew that investigation was ongoing and still did not exercise restraint.”

Speicher is not allowed to have contact with the victim or witnesses. He also is not allowed to be on Seneca Valley school property.
