Butler man gets probation in trespassing, theft cases
A probationary sentence was handed down to a man in Butler County Court Wednesday on charges of trespass, theft and possession of a weapon.
Jory D. Loughman, 20, was sentenced to 2 years probation by President Judge Thomas Doerr, according to online docket records.
Loughman previously pleaded guilty to felony criminal trespass, misdemeanor possession of an offensive weapon and theft Jan. 31.
State police and Butler police filed the charges in three cases. The first incident occurred between Oct. 4 and 18, 2015, where Loughman and a 16-year-old accomplice broke into a home on Davis Road in Oakland Township and stole two shotguns from a bedroom. The guns were later sold to two other youths, police said.
Loughman pleaded to an added charge of felony criminal trespass in that case.
Butler police then charged Loughman after an incident in the 100 block of Hickory Street on July 15, 2016.
Police said surveillance video showed Loughman, a 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy trying to enter vehicles in the block, and items were later found missing.
Loughman pleaded to misdemeanor theft in that case.
In the final case, he was charged after an incident at a city home in the 400 block of Brown Avenue on Dec. 3, 2016.
Butler police said Loughman threatened to stab a neighbor during a confrontation following a previous stabbing incident, where Loughman was injured.
Police said Loughman was initially found earlier in the day bleeding from an apparent stab wound to his right side after the confrontation with his 18-year-old neighbor.
Loughman had been stabbed by a small pocket knife, police said, and the neighbor was not charged in that incident.
Loughman was taken by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital, where he received stitches for a minor stab wound. Officers tried to interview Loughman but he refused to talk about what happened, police said.
Police were later called back to the area after Loughman showed up again, this time with his own knife, and threatened the neighbor.
He pleaded guilty to the weapons charge in that case.
