Lernerville opens Friday

Fab 4 season extended to October

BUFFALO TWP — Lernerville Speedway is officially back.

After allowing its drivers and pit crews a Test & Tune session last Friday — with no fans — the Sarver oval will begin its Fab 4 racing season at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.

Sprints, Late Models, Modifieds and Pro Stocks will all be in action.

“I'm anticipating a full field of cars,” said Tim Tomson, a member of the track's ownership group. “Last week went well. We had a nice turnout.

“People are anxious to get back to racing.”

Unsure of how many fans will be permitted in the grandstands, Tomson said “I'm sure we'll have to limit ticket sales. That hasn't been clarified yet.”

Masks will be required to enter the speedway and fans will be asked to maintain social distancing.

A COVID-19 waiver form is available on Lernerville's website at lernerville.com. Copies will also be available at the track. Fans are encouraged to print out their waiver and have it ready upon arrival to expedite track entry.

“No one will be permitted to enter the track without a signed waiver,” Tomson emphasized. “That's drivers, pit crews, fans ... anyone.”

Tomson said “modified” concessions will be available and a food truck will be on the premises.

“We won't have a full menu that night,” he said.

The annual Firecracker 100 weekend is slated for June 25-27 and remains on schedule. Lernerville's Fab 4 racing season typically ends the last Friday in August, but has been extended this season as part of the track's revised schedule.

Fab 4 racing nights have been added Sept. 4, Sept. 18 and Oct. 9, the latter date being championship night. Lernerville's racing season will end with the 12th annual Steel City Stampede Oct. 15-17.

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. Friday with the grandstands opening at 5 p.m. Racing commences at 7:30 p.m. Adult general admission is $15, $12 for seniors, $10 for students 11-17. Children ages 10 and under are admitted free.

Defending track champions are Jack Sodeman Jr. in Sprints, Ken Schaltenbrand in Late Models, Brian Swartzlander in Modifieds and Tyler Dietz in Pro Stocks.

“We can't wait to see our loyal family and friends again,” Tomson said.

Friday will mark the beginning of Lernerville's 53rd season.
