Phillip Leroy Ohl
Phillip Leroy Ohl, 62, of Buffalo Township passed away at his home on Monday, Sept. 20, 2021, with the company of his family at his side.
Phil was born June 10, 1959, in Natrona Heights, and was a son of Eva Jean (Burtner) Ohl of Cabot, and the late Edwin L. Ohl.
Phil was a 1977 graduate of Highlands High School.
He received his associate degree from Triangle Institute of Technology in 1979.
Phil worked for 42 years in engineering, design and construction, servicing the steel and power industries. He had spent the last 20 years with Hatch Associates Consultants Inc. in Pittsburgh.
Phil was a skilled outdoorsman. He was a member of Bull Creek Rod & Gun Club for 40 years, was a Pennsylvania Hunter Trapper Education instructor for 20 years, and a member of the White Eagle Camp Association in Medix, Pa. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, winter trips to Wyoming and peaceful days at camp.
Phil was a supportive and loving husband and family man. He was always present at his children's activities, whether it be cold mornings at ice hockey games or long hours at dance recitals. He was loved by all with his kind smile and great personality.
Phil is survived by his wife of 25 years, Cindy M. (Somers) Ohl; their two children, Abigail M. Ohl of New York City and Airman 1st Class Slade A. Ohl of Nellis Air Force Base, Nev.
In addition to his mother, Phil is also survived by his brother, Terry and Susan Ohl of Buffalo Township; his sister, Karen and Steven Wirth of Bradford Woods; his niece, Alena E. Petkova of Dade City, Fla.; his in-laws, Ronald and Anna Mary Somers; his brothers-in-law, Ronald (Kim) Somers and Scott (Stacy) Somers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
OHL — Family and friends of Phillip Leroy Ohl, who died Monday, Sept. 20, 2021, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at REDMOND FUNERAL HOME, 524 High St., Freeport.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jack Hartman officiating.
