Janelle Thompson of Butler from Lafayette College——

Lauren Rodgers of Fenelton graduated magna cum laude from Robert Morris University with a bachelor's degree in business administration and accounting.While at RMU, she was on the dean's list each semester and was a member of the university's honor cooperative education program.She also received the Presidential Undergraduate Award for Accounting. The award is given to one student per year in each of the majors at Robert Morris.Rodgers is studying for her C.P.A. She will begin full-time employment in October with Schneider Downs and Co. public accounting firm in Pittsburgh.A 2006 graduate of Butler High School, she is the daughter of George Rodgers of Fenelton and Kathleen Rodgers of Chicora.——

Julie Hranica graduated magna cum laude from the honors program with a degree in elementary and special education from Mercyhurst College. She was a co-recipient of the Sister Carolyn Hermann Service Award.She is a member of the Council for Exceptional Children and involved with Special Olympics.She was active in the Circle K Club, serving for two years as president and as district editor on the Pennsylvania District Board. She participated in many community projects, including district events in Pennsylvania and international events held in Alabama and Colorado. Her club was recognized this year by Mercyhurst College as the most successful service club.An officer for the Alternative Break Club, she attended many break trips including two hurricane relief trips to Louisiana and an Urban Challenge to New Jersey. As an AmeriCorps Education Scholar for two years, she completed more than 500 hours of community service per year.She received the Presidential Service Award during her second year. she helped agencies in the Erie area, including the Gliding Stars adaptive skating program and the Neighborhood Art House. She worked for four years as a teacher's aide and tutored children and her peers.
