Kevan Yenerall, the Democratic candidate for the state Senate's 21st District, met Aug. 19 with nearly 100 supporters at the Clarion House Bed & Breakfast.

Joining Yenerall in promoting the issues facing Pennsylvania including jobs, education, health care and the environment were state Sen. Allen Kukovich, D-Westmoreland, and Trueman Mills, chairman of the Clarion County Democratic Committee.

"We are not a perfect party, we are not a perfect people, but we are called to a perfect mission," Yenerall said in a new release. "We are called to meet our commitments to working families, to provide equitable funding for basic and higher education and balance economic development with environmental concerns."

Yenerall and Kukovich also met with citizens the following day to discussion issues facing northwestern Pennsylvania

Yenerall on Aug. 20 participated in ceremonies to open the opening of the Butler County Democratic headquarters in Butler.

Attending those ceremonies were Pennsylvania Treasurer Barbara Hafer; Jack Wagner, Democratic candidate for state auditor general, and Fred Vero , Democratic candidate for the state House of Representatives' 11th District.

Brian Ellis, Republican candidate for the state House of Representatives' 11th District, recently signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge sponsored by Americans for Tax Reform.Ellis, in signing the pledge, promised "to oppose and vote against any and all efforts to increase taxes."Americans for Tax Reform, a taxpayers' advocate group, asks all candidates for federal and state office to sign its pledge.

U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., recently picked up several endorsements in his re-election campaign.The endorsements include the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, Pennsylvania Building and Construction Trades Council, American Postal Workers Union, National Association of Letter Carriers, and the National Association of Rural Letter Carriers.
