Twp. selling former municipal building

CENTER TWP — The township is selling its former municipal building on Sunset Drive.

The township supervisors Wednesday night accepted an offer from Hirdaypal Gill of Grove City to buy the property for $153,000.

Gill owns the Jiffy Mini Mart, 1701 N. Main St. Ext., which is Route 8, that borders the back of the former municipal property at 419 Sunset Drive.

Supervisor Phil Wulff said Gill’s offer was above the appraised value of the about 1-acre property, which is zoned for commercial use.

They think Gill will use the building for office space, but did not know his exact plans.

The township last year twice put the property out to bid but did not receive an offer the supervisors liked.

The township previously held meetings in the 1,800-square-foot building and had its main office there. The township moved its meetings to the Unionville Fire Hall and relocated its office to the newer Public Works building on Henricks Road.

The sale is contingent on the review of the township solicitor.
