Canopy damaged by car fire

MUDDY CREEK TWP — A car fire Saturday morning led to minor damage to a canopy attached to a mobile home on West Park Road.

Tim Saunders, Portersville Volunteer Fire Company chief, said the vehicle owner attempted to start the car while it was under the canopy at 316 W. Park Road.

Saunders said one of the owners, who are Ralph and Marjorie Currie, heard a pop and then smoke started coming from underneath the car about 8:45 a.m.

That owner was able to pull the car out from under the canopy. Firefighters arrived and quickly extinguished the flames.

The fire caused minor smoke and heat damage to the canopy.

Further information was unavailable.
