Moniteau names assistant principal for high school
CHERRY TWP — Todd Amsler of Greenville has accepted the job of assistant principal for Moniteau Junior Senior High School.
Amsler has been a health and physical education teacher and a football coach in the Lakeview School District in Stoneboro, Mercer County.
“He’s an excellent find for our district,” said Maynard Harvey, principal of Moniteau High School. “He has a strong curriculum background which will allow him to have an impact on curriculum and instruction which is above and beyond the typical role of assistant principal.”
The Moniteau School Board voted on Amsler’s appointment at its Nov. 11 meeting.
In August, Brenda Knoll, the previous assistant principal at the high school, was selected as assistant principal for Dassa McKinney Elementary School.
Amsler has a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Clarion University and a bachelor’s degree in physical education and health from Slippery Rock University. He graduated from Clarion High School.
Amsler is completing a master’s degree in educational leadership at Edinboro University.
He will start at Moniteau on Dec. 3. The job is his first as a school administrator.
“I anticipate him being an excellent fit here,” Harvey said.
The board Monday night approved Zoe McDowell as the high school athletic director for the remainder of the school year.
McDowell has been a physical education teacher in the district since 1995 and an assistant cross-country coach.
Jim Metz has been the athletic director at the school for 25 years. His last day on the job will be Jan. 17.
