Fire company's administrator on leave
CRANBERRY TWP — The Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company’s administrator, Mark Nanna, is on leave after suffering a medical condition in late December.
Company President Ed Hestin said members of the company are picking up the administrator’s responsibilities until Nanna is well enough to return.
The fire administrator takes care of all the state and federal paperwork, compiles department statistics, tracks training, deals with insurance companies and handles public requests among other duties. It is the only paid position in the department.
“We wish him well in his recovery,” said Hestin, adding he estimates Nanna will be out at least several months in his recuperation.
Nanna, 50, is only the second fire administrator in the department’s history.
He was hired in early 2004, replacing the late John W. Rose III. Rose had been the first paid employee of the department.
Nanna has been a volunteer with the department since 1991. He previously was the fire chief, captain and lieutenant before being the fire administrator.
