Bowser, Union/A-C Valley knock off Redbank Valley; North Catholic cruises
Luke Bowser tossed a pair of touchdown passes and also rushed for a score as the Union/A-C Valley football team beat Redbank Valley 28-7 Friday night.
The Falcon Knights (7-2, 3-1) led 12-0 at the half on the strength of a 4-yard TD run by Eli Penny and a Karter Vogel 7-yard pass from Bowser.
Union/A-C Valley opened up a 20-0 lead when Caden Rainey hauled in a 14-yard pass from Bowser in the third quarter.
Bowser finished 9-of-20 for 106 yards in the air. He capped the scoring with a 2-yard run.
Tony Thompson led the Falcon Knights in rushing with 57 yards on 12 carries.
Colton Hoffman and Andrew Verostek had big games on defense for Union/A-C Valley.
Hoffman had 13 tackles and Verostek added 12.
Mt. Pleasant 35, Freeport 7 — Brodey Woods hauled in an 11-yard touchdown pass from Garret Schaffauser, but the Yellowjackets couldn't overcome a big early deficit in this Big East Conference setback.
Woods had 67 yards receiving in the game.
Freeport (3-5), which was plagued by eight fumbles (three lost), fell behind 21-0 midway through the second quarter.
Schaffhauser had 129 yards passing for the Yellowjackets, who close the regular season at home next week against Knoch.
North Catholic 48, Yough 13 — The Trojans (7-1, 7-0) remained undefeated in the Big East Conference by pulling away from Yough.
North Catholic led 15-7 after the first quarter, but extended that lead to 35-13 after three quarters.
Anthony Serventi rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns for the Trojans while Zack Rocco completed 15 of 23 passes for 197 yards Rocco threw TD passes to Serventi, Liam Straub and Nick Maher. He ran for three TDs as well.
