Man accused of fleeing police in vehicle, on foot in Slippery Rock
A McCandless Township man is charged with fleeing police in a vehicle and on foot Sunday in Slippery Rock.
Teal Alexander Gamblin, 19, was charged Monday by state police with one felony count each of fleeing police and evading arrest on foot, two misdemeanor counts of DUI and one misdemeanor count each of resisting arrest and drug paraphernalia possession following an attempted traffic stop and chase.
Police said they were patrolling traffic in Slippery Rock when they spotted a vehicle that appeared to be speeding. When police attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle passed the car in front of it and continued to speed up, according to charging documents.
Police said Gamblin’s vehicle crossed the center line on the road multiple times during a chase before traveling into a yard, where he exited the vehicle and fled on foot into the woods. Gamblin continued to refuse commands from police while being apprehended, police said.
Police said Gamblin had a bottle of Crown Royal, multiple items of drug paraphernalia and admitted to being under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
Gamblin is being held in Butler County Prison on $30,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Nov. 11 before District Judge Joseph Nash.
