BUTLER TWP — The Butler County Vocational-Technical School will receive nearly $4,000 in new textbooks from the Pennsylvania State Police at no cost.

Joe Cunningham, vo-tech director, said the State Police Criminal Justice handbooks were needed for students in the protective services program to adhere to new curriculum requirements. The state police Butler barracks had extra books so the department gave 30 of the handbooks to the school for free.

Other textbooks approved at the vo-tech Joint Operating Committee meeting Thursday night for next school year amounted to nearly $20,000, so the $4,000 savings made a difference, Cunningham said.
