Duke player faces Fla. charges
PITTSBURGH — The preliminary hearing for suspended Duquesne University forward Stuard Baldonado, charged with acting as a lookout for a man accused of selling marijuana, was postponed so he could face domestic violence charges in Florida.
Baldonado, 22, one of five Dukes players shot on campus a year ago this month, was arrested Aug. 31 and charged with criminal conspiracy involving the manufacture, delivery or possession of a controlled substance.
His preliminary hearing on the charges was delayed until Oct. 10. He was traveling to Florida, where he is scheduled for trial Monday on aggravated battery and false imprisonment counts.
Baldonado was arrested in May in Miami-Dade County, Fla., where he once attended Miami Dade College. He has a girlfriend and a child there.
