PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh police used a robot to destroy a suspicious package found on top of a phone booth downtown.

Police were told about the package about 6:20 a.m. Wednesday and described it as a box with a cylinder that had wires coming out of it.

The robot picked up the package and it was destroyed in the middle of an intersection about 8:20 a.m.

It was not clear what was in the package. Police were trying to find the man who reportedly put the package on the phone booth and made a call before walking away.
