WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama is getting an update on the nation's economy from former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker.

Volcker is chairman of Obama's economic recovery advisory board. He is set today to brief the president and his economic team on how the $787 billion stimulus package is working.

On Thursday, Obama met with state officials about their plans to spend their economic stimulus dollars and then met with business leaders about their worries.
