Armstrong customers report service issues with phone, internet
Armstrong Cable customers have been reporting issues with their home phone, internet and cable television service over the past two days.
“We are currently experiencing an unexpected interruption of service and have our technicians working to restore service as soon as possible,” read a message for Armstrong customers on Thursday, Oct. 22. “We apologize for any inconvenience.”
DownDetector, which tracks outages for online services and internet service providers, tracked a massive spike in problem reports for Armstrong customers between 6 and 8 p.m. Wednesday night, Aug. 22.
Robert Natili, of Butler Township, said Thursday afternoon he has been without internet and cable TV service from Armstrong since noon Wednesday and he was told to expect an hour wait when he attempted to call Armstrong’s customer service line.
“They said to reboot the modem,” Natili said. “So I unplugged it for a couple of minutes or maybe more than a couple of minutes, and still I don’t get YouTube. I don’t get anything on the internet.”
According to a message posted to Armstrong’s social media, the company had received reports of internet service outages on Wednesday night but stated the issue had been resolved.
But not every customer saw a resolution.
“What happened to Armstrong? No cable, no internet! Curious customer!” wrote East Butler resident Jason Fennell on Facebook on Wednesday night.
Butler County Emergency Services is currently aware of Armstrong’s service issues. In a Facebook post on Thursday afternoon, the department advised residents to use their cellphones to call 911 if necessary, as cell service in the county is not affected.
“We have been made aware of various landline phone/internet service providers experiencing widespread service interruptions in the Butler County area, limiting subscribers ability to make and receive calls,” the department wrote. “At this time we are not aware of any wireless carriers experiencing service interruptions. Please be advised that 911 service itself is not directly impacted at Butler County Department of Emergency Services.”
Multiple calls to Armstrong’s corporate office number yielded only a “number unobtainable” message and the queue for Armstrong’s customer service number was at least 20 minutes as of Thursday at 1 p.m.
