11:12 p.m. Tuesday — Chelsie J. Bauman, 33, was arrested after she allegedly assaulted her boyfriend during a domestic dispute at her apartment on the 300 block of Virginia Avenue.

The victim told police that Bauman hit him in the face with a board, scratched his arms and bit him on the right forearm, according to court documents. Police said the man had minor injuries that appeared to be consistent with his account.

Bauman was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and was placed in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $2,000 bond.

Feb. 3 — Police charged Tabitha L. Hilliard, 32, of Summit Township with having marijuana and other contraband stemming from a January traffic stop. Hilliard was a passenger in a vehicle which was stopped around 11:20 p.m. Jan. 22 at East Jefferson and South Cliff streets during a police investigation.

She is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Thursday — A Clearfield County man was charged with retail theft and possession of instruments of a crime following an alleged shoplifting incident at a store at the Butler Crossing shopping plaza.

Police said Randall Puit Jr., 36, of Osceola Mills, removed $499.99 worth of merchandise from Kohls without paying for it. Police said Puit used items to defeat security measures on the merchandise.

He was taken to Butler County Prison to await arraignment.

Additionally, police said they learned Puit had an active arrest warrant from Muncy Township Police Department in Pennsdale, Lycoming County, and he would be arraigned later for that warrant.

Wednesday — Kenny D. Newpher, 64, of Butler was charged with driving under the influence stemming from a traffic stop around 5:50 p.m. Jan. 24 on Route 422.

Police said a blood test later showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.126 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

In addition to DUI, Newpher is charged with driving too fast for conditions, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.

Middlesex Twp Police

Jan. 28 — Troy J. Kline, 46, of Valencia was charged with failing to pay for $275.30 in services done on his pickup Nov. 14 at John’s Automotive on Route 8.

Employees for the business told police that they made several attempts to contact Kline to collect the payment due, according to court documents, but as of Jan. 28, the bill was not paid. He is charged with a first-degree misdemeanor count of theft of services.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Butler[/naviga:h3]

Jan. 31 — Police charged a Westmoreland County man with firing a .22-caliber rifle round into the ground during a reported domestic dispute last month at a home on the 300 block of Marwood Road in Winfield Township. No one was injured in the incident Jan. 14.

The defendant, Ryan P. Washlaski, 36, of New Alexandria, is charged with a misdemeanor count of reckless endangerment.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Kittanning[/naviga:h3]

11:46 a.m. Jan. 31 — A sport utility vehicle driven by Deborah J. Douglass, 67, of East Brady collided with a car while attempting to turn on Route 268 at the Hilltop Plaza in East Franklin Township. Gary D. Emmonds, 77, of Ford City was the other driver.

Both vehicles sustained heavy front-end damage, police said. Douglass was cited for disobeying traffic control devices.
