Stadium authority discusses BlueSox

The Butler Parks, Recreation, Grounds and Facilities Authority is hoping the Butler BlueSox will play 18 homes games with no doubleheaders next year.

Authority board members discussed the team's 2021 season at a meeting Monday.

Stadium director Dean Selfridge said the schedule could include 14 to 18 home games, but 18 games is preferred.

The schedule will be finalized in February.

The BlueSox played 18 home games this year, but some were doubleheaders, Selfridge said. The authority was to spread out the scheduling of the games to avoid double headers, he said.

“Eighteen is the goal,” said Cheri Readie, board chairwoman.

Other leagues, including the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League, have contacted the authority about using Michelle Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park next season, officials said.

Selfridge said the Great Lakes league would play 21 homes games at the stadium.

Board member Dustin Orwig suggested adding the Great Lakes league to the 2022 schedule.
