Ready for some football
Construction nears completion on the football stadium at Slippery Rock High School. The field will be ready for Slippery Rock’s home game this Friday against Hickory, said school board President Polly Shaw. The $3.2 million project includes improved lighting, improved home bleachers, expanded visitors bleachers, an artificial turf field, a track, improved drainage and improved handicap accessibility. Shaw said the district hoped that the stadium would be ready earlier this month, but 31 rain days delayed construction. The original stadium, which was at the same location, was built in the 1960s.
