Cranberry offers $1 discount for those who pay bills online
CRANBERRY TWP — Cranberry officials for years have urged residents to forgo using currency to pay township bills and instead pay them online. Now they’re offering more of an incentive for residents to do so.
Township Manager Jerry Andree said Wednesday that Cranberry is increasing a credit given to residents who use the “green bill” program for the water and sewer bills.
Residents previously were given a 60-cent credit per month if they paid their bills online. Now that credit will be raised to $1.
Andree said the township saves $1 for each customer in the green bill program, and officials decided to pass all of those savings on to residents.
Cranberry supervisors tonight are expected to address other changes to municipal fees.
Andree said the rate for residents using unmetered sewer service for homes using well water will go up to $55 from $46 a month.
The number of residents using unmetered water service in the township is “very small,” Andree said, saying the increase in rates won’t have a drastic effect on residents.
Also, road pavement permits for crews installing pipes will increase, as well as the cost for temporary water meters at construction sites. Those temporary meter fees will increase to $500 from $100.
The supervisors tonight also will discuss adjusting rates for room rentals in the municipal center.
