Butler Heart Walk Saturday at college
BUTLER TWP — Exercise is the one of the most effective ways to keep heart healthy, and the annual Butler Heart Walk at Butler County Community College this Saturday is a great place to do it.
Barbara Roth, a regional senior division director with the American Heart Association, said about 400 people are expected to participate. Some people have raised thousands of dollars for heart-related studies and programs, while others plan to bring their families to learn more about being heart healthy.
“It’s both a friends and family fun day, and a health educational day,” Roth said.
As of Tuesday, the association had raised $64,000 toward it goal of $85,000 for the walk. Top sponsors are Butler Health System and Penn United.
Roth recommends participants walk around the area three times which would be three miles. However, people can walk as far they are comfortable with.
A face painting and balloon area and a blood pressure station are included along the route.
No early registration is necessary. Registration Saturday begins at 9 a.m. with opening ceremonies at 10 a.m.
