Cranberry Twp. supervisors accept roads
CRANBERRY TWP — The township supervisors last month accepted more than 1.19 miles of roads valued at $1.8 million.
Now those roads must be maintained by the township public works department.
The new road segments include portions in Park Place, BelleVue Park and at Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic High School.
Assistant township manager Duane McKee said Cranberry annually accepts several miles of new roads that have been built by developers for housing or commercial projects.
When those developments are completed, McKee said, the township takes over the road maintenance and submits paperwork to the state Department of Transportation. Once approved by the state, Cranberry will get an increase in state liquid fuels funding.
McKee said the township accepting more than a mile of road is “par for the course” for a year although he couldn’t estimate how much of an increase in liquid fuel funding Cranberry might get.
