David Fleeger, a native of Butler now living in Ohio, recently earned first place overall among 143 amateurs at the 2026 GA Precision LLC Bushnell GAP Grind held in Tennessee. It is one of the world’s largest centerfire precision rifle competitions.

Throughout the three-day event, he recorded 168 impacts out of 183 shots, achieving a 91.8% hit rate. Target distances ranged from approximately 300 yards to nearly 1,200 yards, challenging competitors to make precise shots across a wide range of distances and wind conditions.

The effort came as part of a Pro/Am-style competition that pairs professional shooters with amateur competitors.

Fleeger, 29, teamed up with professional shooter Ryan Killian, and his team finished 65th out of 164 teams.
