Stewart maintains perfect record
Jimmy Stewart of Butler maintained his perfect professional kick-boxing record Friday night with a 10-round unanimous decision over Mark Norge of New Castle.
Norge (9-1) lost for the first time in 10 professional bouts. The fight was held at the Radisson Hotel in Morgantown, W.Va.
Stewart (19-0, 11 knockouts) had to come from behind to win the fight. He was knocked to the canvas by a right hand in the second round.
Stewart admittedly lost rounds three and four as well.
By the fifth roound, Stewart had adjusted his style to the bigger Norge - Stewart gave away 12 pounds to his opponent - and used combinations to take control of the fight.
Norge was in trouble in Round 10, but held on to finish the fight. All three judges scored the bout 96-94 for Stewart.
The current International Kick-boxing Federation super-welterweight champion, Stewart will defend his title in late May in Los Angeles, Calif.
