Station construction to be topic

Compressor will be built in Clinton

CLINTON TWP — While concerns about noise coming from one gas compressor station are being addressed, more information about pending construction of another station will be presented this week.

The company Superior Appalachian Pipeline will hold a meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the municipal building on Saxonburg Boulevard about construction of its new station at 275 Westminster Road.

The company received township approval of its site plan two years ago. Although the company owns roughly 20 acres, it’s developed only seven.

Under the company’s timetable, the initial phase is for filtration and dehydration processes. Compression won’t occur at the site for another year.

While construction of that plant is moving ahead, modifications have been made to the site of another farther down the road at 239 Westminster Road.

Township Supervisor Kathy Allen said EQT has made $1 million in improvements, including a wall erected on the back of the north side of the property to address noise.

“That was very significant,” Allen said.

She said the company is in the process of responding to lingering concerns, so the supervisors are satisfied.

“We feel good about it,” Allen said.

She said the board’s priority is to work with companies to ensure there is little to no impact from their operations on residents.

“Let’s be proactive,” Allen said.
