Ash Wednesday rite
The Rev. Cynthia Baxter, of Rider Evangelical Lutheran Church, right, administers ashes Wednesday to the forehead of the Rev. Tara Lynn of Grace@Calvary Church at Diamond Park. Ash Wednesday marks the start of the Lenten season. Providing ashes outdoors allows greater access to the Lenten rite.
