Jug for donations stolen from store
SPRINGDALE — The grandparents of a 1-year-old girl who is battling a rare cancer are miffed that someone stole a plastic jug full of donations for her from a store.
The 5-gallon jug had been on the counter of B&D Records, a music store owned by the grandparents of Ella Rose DePew. Ella suffers from a rare leg cancer and the jug contained donations from customers.
Store owners Bill and Diane DePew say they are happy that they were not hurt in the break-in but they can't imagine who could do this to a child.
The couple had planned to give the donations to Ella Rose's parents during Christmas.
Springdale Police Chief Joe Naviglia said the burglar or burglars apparently pried open and pushed in glass on the store's front door.
