Contractors reminded of new registration law
HARRISBURG — Pennsylvania contractors who do at least $5,000 a year in home improvement work are being reminded to register with the state under a law that takes effect next month.
Attorney General Tom Corbett on Tuesday said contractors can register online at his office's Web site or by mail.
The Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act passed last year also mandates insurance coverage and the use of contracts that describe when the work will be done, what it entails and the rights of consumers.
Two-year registrations cost $50. Consumers will be able to verify registration by checking the Web site.
