Fur Ball nets over $60,000

PENN TWP — The ninth annual Butler County Humane Society Fur Ball gala Saturday raised more than $60,000.

Marci Mustello, board president, said that a final tally of money raised was not available this morning.

The event Saturday night at the Butler Country Club was attended by about 250 people. Mustello said it was one of the largest Fur Balls.

She said that the money raised will go primarily to the care of the animals, including to veterinary care and staff costs.

“Every dollar that we made stays in Butler County,” Mustello said.

The honoree of this year’s ball was Beatrice Faux, formerly of Butler, who Mustello said is a longtime supporter of the humane society.

Mustello thanked Cindy Dimmick, chairman of the event, humane society executive director Michelle Allen and all of the sponsors for helping the affair come together.

The society takes in up to 1,000 stray, abandoned and surrendered animals annually.
