Storms are blamed on global warming
HARRISBURG — A Pennsylvania environmental group says its analysis of weather data since 1948 shows storms that dump heavier-than-normal amounts of rain are becoming much more frequent.
PennEnvironment says findings released Tuesday show heavy downpours increased 41 percent in Pennsylvania — and 24 percent nationally. The group says the results show a need to reduce pollution linked with global warming.
One lawmaker, state Rep. Greg Vitali, says the report is evidence that global warming needs attention. The Delaware County Democrat is a sponsor of a bill calling for a study of the impact of warming on Pennsylvania.
