CRANBERRY TWP — Pennsylvania State Police say a sleepy tractor-trailer driver caused a crash that closed some lanes of the Pennsylvania Turnpike between the Cranberry Township and Beaver Valley exits.
Police say 37-year-old Wesley Herr of New Oxford told them he woke up when his eastbound rig hit another vehicle from behind about four miles west of the Cranberry exit about 5:45 a.m. Thursday. Police say Herr swerved then hit a concrete median. Police say they haven't been able to locate the vehicle Herr says he hit.
The crash closed both eastbound lanes for 90 minutes. One lane in each direction remained closed through the morning rush hour before reopening.
Nobody was hurt.
