Man found guilty of firearms charges
PITTSBURGH — A federal jury found a former Evans City man guilty of fire arms charges.
Lacy Tilley, 43, was found guilty Wednesday of possession of firearms and ammunition by a convicted felon, according to a news release issued by the office of U.S. Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan.
Tilley, formerly of Prospect Road, first got in trouble when federal prosecutors indicted him for unemployment fraud. Court documents said Tilley told employees at United Building Maintenance to file for unemployment claims. He was indicted on federal charges in that case.
In January he was indicted in both the fraud and firearms charges. He then fled to Florida.
He was caught in July and returned to Pennsylvania to face the charges.
Another federal grand jury also has indicted Tilley for embezzling money from the Penn Window Cleaning Co. in Coraopolis, where he worked from July 2002 and May 2005.
Tilley has previously been convicted of two felony drug trafficking account, making it illegal for him to possess firearms.
A jury found after two and a half days of deliberation that Tilley was in possession of three firearms and 350 rounds of ammunition.
Chief U.S. District Judge Donetta Ambrose, who heard the case, has scheduled sentencing for March 7. Tilley faces up to 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both.
