Freeport volleyball moves to 16-0; Knoch boys soccer rolls: Highlights & scores

Freeport girls volleyball remained perfect Thursday with a sweep at Ligonier Valley.

The Yellowjackets (16-0, 11-0) featured a diverse attack, with Emily Boylan, Lucy Majersky, Brynleigh Paga, Jayme Radvan and Lauren Hellgren combining for 32 kills.

Caylee Zembrzuski dished out 33 assists for Freeport, which won each set with ease — 25-11, 25-11 and 25-12.

Brookville 3, Moniteau 1 — The Raiders topped the Warriors by scores of 24-26, 25-21, 25-13 and 25-8.

Emily Matz led Moniteau’s effort with 13 kills and 20 digs. Sayge Brunst had 33 digs and seven kills; Alyssa Thompson contributed 30 digs, Maddy Eury 19 assists and 25 digs.

Canon-McMillan 3, Butler 0 — Sophia Slaugenhoup had eight kills and Janessa Robinson six kills in the loss.

Eva Stutz added 14 digs for Butler, which fell by scores of 25-6, 25-15 and 25-21.

Mars 3, West Allegheny 0 — Kate Southwell (12 kills), Alyssa Genis (10) and Reese Connelly (eight) dropped a combined 30 kills, due in part to the play of teammate Gabi Weidemann (34 assists, four kills).

Sabrina Ruiz-Gonzalez added eight digs and three aces in the victory.

Slippery Rock 3, Erie 1 — The Rockets took care of the host Royals by scores of 25-17, 25-10, 25-27 and 25-19.

Lexi Caldwell had 30 assists, Kasey Yeager 11 kills, Savannah Smith eight kills and four blocks for Slippery Rock.

Keystone 3, Union 0 — The Panthers upended the Damsels by scores of 26-24, 25-18 and 25-15.

Lilly Hayden contributed 23 digs in the loss and Haley Corle knocked down six kills.

Boys soccer

Seven different players scored for Slippery Rock as the Rockets crushed visiting Conneaut 9-0.

Logan Berry and Alex Mobley scored a pair of goals. Sam Caton, Wade Freehling, Connor Zorn, Eli Flowers and Logan Schulz all found the net once.

Parker Wilhide and Logan Freehling combined in net for the shutout.

Knoch 9, Leechburg 0 — Fabian Faria and Whitaker Schwalm scored twice for the Knights.

Luke Myers, Cam Rial, Walker Stewart, Chase Sasse and Easton Hull each added a goal for the Knights (5-8-1, 4-4-1).

North Catholic 6, South Side 0 — Logan Mueser and John Shifter split the shutout for the Trojans (12-1-1, 9-0-1).

Goals came from Matthew Liscinsky (2), Jackson Schlegel, Ethan Parnell, Colin Pilla and Dylan DeVore.

Liscinsky added two assists.

Freeport 1, Indiana 1 — Xavier DeWitt’s goal was assisted by Liam Dunn as the Yellowjackets (10-2-2) and Little Indians played to a draw in this non-section clash.
