Lancaster to use grant for storm sewer work

LANCASTER TWP — The township has received a $565,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority.

PENNVEST announced the grant recipients at its Wednesday morning board meeting.

The money will be used to install 2,400 feet of storm sewer along Scott Ridge Road, an area susceptible to flooding in wet weather.

The area has experienced above-average amounts of rainfall this summer.

The proposed construction schedule runs from Sept. 7 to July 7, 2016, according to the state Infrastructure Investment Authority Board’s summary review. Eight construction related jobs are expected to be created for the storm sewer project, which is also expected to affect 21 residents on Scott Ridge Road.

The review says a major benefit of the project will be to reduce sediment, debris and other pollutants to Scholars Run, a designated warm water fishery.
