Provisional ballots may decide race
SEVEN FIELDS — A few procedures have to occur before a winner is determined in a tie for a seat on the borough council from Tuesday’s election.
Dawn Servello and Joseph Scalamogna both ended with 198 votes.
Shari Brewer, Butler County Bureau of Elections director, said the official results of the election have to be posted before a tie breaker for the seat would occur. The provisional ballots have not been counted yet, so that could change the outcome.
If after the provisional ballots are counted there is still a tie, then the candidates will be contacted to come in to draw a number, Brewer said. The candidate who draws the lowest number wins.
The write-in candidate validation process will begin Friday, and the official results from the write-ins will be announced next week.
