Woman ordered to pay restitution
A cleaning woman who helped herself to an employer’s jewelry and money must pay about $11,000 in restitution.
Tracy L. Charlier, 46, of Jackson Township pleaded guilty to multiple counts of theft, and on Thursday was sentenced to pay back the victim and serve two years of probation.
According to court records, Charlier had been a longtime employee of a 52-year-old woman living in the township’s Briar Hill plan.
According to court records, Charlier manipulated four checks written to her by the woman so that she could cash them for more money. For example, Charlier added a 1 to an $80 check and cashed it for $180, according to court records.
While police were investigating that case, the same victim discovered she was missing jewelry, including three gold and diamond tennis bracelets, worth a combined $4,600.
When confronted by police, Charlier acknowledged the thefts saying she needed the money to buy Christmas gifts, according to court records.
Charlier was sentenced Thursday by Butler County Judge Timothy McCune.
In addition to the probation, Charlier was order to pay the victim $2,720 in restitution and the victim’s insurance companies $8,449.
