Stadium authority readies concessions

Pizza oven set for installation

The Butler Parks, Recreation, Grounds and Facilities Authority on Monday bought kitchen equipment for the concession stand at Michelle Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park and hired some staff for the 2021 baseball season.

Authority board members unanimously voted to buy a pizza oven for $1,095 and a pizza warmer for $500 from North Pittsburgh Showcase for the concession stand.

Officials said the equipment should be installed by this weekend, and will be used with a previously purchased stove to prepare a new menu for the season.

The board voted to rehire Emily Kriley, Payton Folk and Jacob Anthony, who worked at the stadium last year, and part-time employees Jessi Berzett, Toni Berzett, Steve Green, Abby Frederick and Meghan Lewis. They will work in the concession stand and at the ticket booth, and will be paid minimum wage, officials said.

The board also voted to advertise for a bookkeeper.

The authority is planning a brew and music festival at the stadium on Aug. 14. Several bands and six breweries have agreed to participate and others could be added.

On Aug. 21, the Pittsburgh Doo Wop Big Band will perform a concert to raise money for the stadium operating expenses.
