Elizabeth P. 'Betty' Bauer
Elizabeth P. "Betty" Bauer, 85, of William Flinn Highway, Harrisville, died at 12:30 a.m. Thursday at Slippery Rock Personal Care.
Born March 23, 1921, in Greenville, she was the daughter of Frederick and Eliza P. Neely Myers.
She attended Greenville High School, and proudly received her GED in January 1981 at the age of 60.
She was a retired cafeteria worker in the Slippery Rock schools.
She was a former member of the Harrisville Fire Department Auxiliary.Noted for making teddy bears and giving them away, she was known by everyone for Betty Bauer's Bears.
She married William H. Bauer on Sept. 16, 1939, and he survives at home.
Also surviving are two daughters, Karen H. Holtz of St. Libory, Ill., and Joyce A. Zalis and her husband, Joseph, of Akron, Ohio; a son, James W. Bauer and his wife, Mary, of Harrisville; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four great-grandchildren, two sisters and three brothers.
