Pittsburgh man, 20, accused of sexually assaulting girl, 14

Arrest warrant issued for suspect

CRANBERRY TWP — An arrest warrant has been issued for a Pittsburgh man accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl in the township.

Illya J. Vogel, 20, on Wednesday was charged with statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault and criminal use of a communication facility after he allegedly had a sexual relationship with the 14-year-old girl, according to court documents.

Township police said the victim’s father reported the relationship to the department on May 15 after he became aware of it.

The victim later told police she and Vogel had sexual intercourse in his vehicle parked on a township street, according to documents.

Vogel told police he met the girl in February and that they have maintained contact via text messaging, Instagram, Snapchat and Skype.

He said he and the victim met in multiple locations in the township since then, including at a residence and community parks. They also met at an out-of-state amusement park.

Vogel admitted to police that he had sex with the victim in May, according to documents. He told police he believed the girl was 16 years old.

However, a juvenile witness who saw the two together in Vogel’s vehicle in May reported to police that she told Vogel the victim’s age several weeks earlier.
