Feb. 15 — Police charged a Somerset County woman with drugged driving stemming from a one-vehicle crash last year on Interstate 79 in Worth Township.

Police said the defendant, Jennifer L. Harrelson, 39, of Somerset, last control of her vehicle about 3:30 a.m. June 17 and crashed. She told police the accident happened when she swerved to miss a deer on the highway.

She appeared to be impaired, according to court documents, and subsequently failed field sobriety tests. A portable breath test device revealed she had consumed no alcohol.

Police took Harrelson to Grove City Medical Center for a blood test, which showed she had the prescription medication alprazolam in her system.

Harrelson is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, disregarding traffic lanes, driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving.

5:58 p.m. Wednesday — Daniel Kopp, 45, of Butler was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital after suffering an apparent drug overdose at an apartment on the 300 block of North Washington Street.

A 41-year-old woman called 911 to report the overdose, police said. A Butler Ambulance Service crew found Kopp unconscious and not breathing. He was given “several doses” of the opioid antidote Narcan, according to a police report, before he was revived.

Officers found a stamp bag and two empty bags of suspected heroin and two used syringes at the apartment.

Wednesday — Steven C. Lingenfelter, 31, of Butler was charged with drunken and drugged driving stemming from a two-vehicle crash about 7:25 p.m. Feb. 8 on Route 8 south and Pittsburgh Road.

Lingenfelter told police that he lost control of his car on black ice, slid across the median and struck the other vehicle, according to court documents. Police, however, said that the road was dry.

He was subsequently arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.103 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

Toxicology reports also showed he had marijuana in his system, documents said.

Lingenfelter is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and reckless driving.

10:45 p.m. Tuesday — Casey R. Claypool, 20, of Butler was caught with suspected marijuana following a traffic stop at Pillow Street and Bantam Avenue. Police said they stopped her because one of her car’s headlights was not working.

An officer questioned her about the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle, according to court documents. She subsequently pulled out a small container from her bra. Police said the container had marijuana in it.

Claypool is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana.

12:28 a.m. Saturday — Three people face charges following a reported fight at the 11th Frame Bar and Grille on Fairground Hill Road.

Police said when they got there, they saw some of the suspects trying to flee in a vehicle. Officers quickly caught up and stopped them. Noah Burnside, 20, and Brandon Norris, 26, both of Butler were identified as being in the fight.

Norris was subsequently arrested on a warrant and for giving officers a bogus name, according to a police report. He is charged with false identification to law enforcement authorities and disorderly conduct. Police cited Burnside for disorderly conduct.

Katrina Adams who was driving the vehicle police stopped, is facing charges of hindering apprehension and fleeing or attempting elude police.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Clarion[/naviga:h3]

8:40 a.m. Jan. 3 — A Butler woman has been cited for her role in an accident on Interstate 80 in Allegheny Township.

Joleen M. Ernst, 24, was driving a Honda Civic eastbound and lost control after hitting an icy patch. The car hit guide rails on both the north and south sides of the highway before coming to a stop.

Ernst was injured and transported to a nearby hospital by Emlenton Ambulance. She faces a driving on roadways traffic citation.
