BUFFALO TWP — A deer struck a school van Friday morning, shattering the driver’s side window.

The W.L. Roenigk van was traveling north on South Pike Road in Buffalo Township near Route 28 at about 9:15 a.m. when a deer ran across the road, directly into the driver’s side door.

The woman driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries — cuts and scrapes from the broken glass. No children were on board.

The van was headed back to the garage after dropping off South Butler School District students, according to Jenny Webb, communications liaison for the district.

Lt. Tim Derringer of Buffalo Township Police, who responded to the accident, said traffic was held up for about 10 minutes. The van was driven away.
