Butler PoliceWednesday — Police arrested Wallace E. Fleming Jr., 57, of Butler on charges he assaulted his girlfriend, Tina Baker, during a domestic dispute last month at an apartment in the 300 block of East Jefferson Street.An arrest warrant for Fleming was issued last week in connection with the suspected assault Dec. 22. He is accused of grabbing the victim and pushing her into the fireplace, where her head struck the mantle, court documents said.Baker was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for head and arm injuries.District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Fleming on a charge of simple assault. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $3,000 bail.4:48 p.m. Friday — Devin Parker, 27, needed hospital treatment for a dog bite that he suffered at his family’s home in the 500 block of Federal Street.Police said Parker was wrestling on the floor with his younger brother when the dog that his mother owns bit him. He was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital.According to a police report, Parker’s mother admitted that it had been “several years” since the dog had been vaccinated for rabies.Police said they turned over their findings to the state dog officer for possible violations.Dec. 27 — Police charged Jonathan R. Shuler, 29, of Butler with opening an unattended cash register Dec. 16 at the Kmart store at Pullman Square. The register, which was in the store’s layaway section, had about $1,900 in it.While the suspect managed to get the machine open, he left empty-handed, according to court documents. A store surveillance camera captured the alleged crime on video.Police later posted photos of the would-be thief on the department’s Facebook page, which led to tips that identified Shuler. He is charged with attempted theft.8:41 p.m. Dec. 17 — Randy L. Halstead Sr., 48, of Washington was arrested after he allegedly tried to run from police following a traffic stop at West Wayne and South Jackson streets. He was pulled over for having a loud muffler.Police Sgt. Jeremy Walters ran down and caught Halstead at the Marathon store parking lot on South Main Street. The defendant told Walters that he ran because he had a warrant out for him, according to court documents.Police confirmed that Halstead was wanted on a bench warrant, which landed him in the Butler County Prison.Walters also charged him with resisting arrest, driving with a suspended license-DUI related and driving with a faulty exhaust system.
Butler Twp PoliceWednesday — Joshua M. McBride, 25, of Butler was charged with shoplifting a flat-screen television set, valued at $698, on Dec. 20 at the Butler Commons’ Walmart. He is charged with misdemeanor retail theft.Tuesday — Police reported they are investigating a burglary between Dec. 24 and 28 at a home on 40th Street. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.Tuesday — Police charged Janel D. Hein, 35, of Lyndora with giving officers a phony name while they responded to a call for a woman reportedly walking on Route 422 east about 4 a.m. Nov. 8.Hein is charged with false identification to law enforcement authorities and disobeying traffic control devices.Tuesday — Corey A. Branchen, 24, of Butler was charged with drunken and drugged driving last month on Crosslands Road. Police found Branchen after they got a report about 10:15 p.m. Dec. 9 that he was driving with a flat tire.Police said they also found the suspect with marijuana and other contraband.Branchen is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, careless driving, reckless driving and improperly backing of a vehicle.Tuesday — Police charged Arlene P. Donaldson, 21, of Renfrew with shoplifting $437 in merchandise Dec. 22 at the Butler Commons’ Walmart. She is accused of failing to scan clothing, food and other household items at the self-checkout counter.Donaldson is charged with a misdemeanor count of retail theft.Tuesday — Justin D. Colich, 33, of Butler was charged with drugged driving after he was found passed out in the driver’s seat of a car about 9 a.m. Nov. 24 at the Taco Bell restaurant parking lot at Moraine Pointe Plaza. He is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.Tuesday — Police charged Elizabeth M. Kordich, 23, of Lyndora with DUI stemming from a crash about 5:15 p.m. Dec. 4 on North Boundary Street. She also is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving and reckless driving.2:20 a.m. Monday — Patrick B. Goettler, 26, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of DUI after he struck a curb at Route 8 and Bean Street. He also was cited for disregarding traffic lanes.2:41 a.m. Sunday — Richard A. Gebo, 38, of Butler was caught with suspected drug contraband after he was found impaired while knocking on a door at a home in the 200 block of South Duffy Road. He is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct.
